How a school-based program looks:

One reason why we love offering brain training to children is that they don’t have to ‘do’ anything to feel the effects. They simply sit or lie back and listen to music for the approximate 30 minute session. They may even read or do tabletop activities, such as drawing or Lego.  The training is working directly with the nervous system at a pre or unconscious level and thus they do not have to actively engage their conscious mind or will. It becomes a quiet independent time in a child’s school week, leaving him/her feeling relaxed and alert, and more equipped to effectively engage in learning and relationships in the school setting.

From hook up to detachment, a session lasts 45 minutes. We can run two children at a time and up to 10 in 4 hours. All we need is a small room, table and chair.  We would likely recommend a weekly session, or twice per week, with a goal of 12-20 sessions or more, depending on the individual brains and/or constraints of the program.  We have been awarded a grant to help support some of the financial cost of the program.

What distinguishes top performers is motivation, concentration, and how emotions are handled in high-pressure situations. This is why Neurofeedback is fast becoming a training standard in Olympic and professional sports, and increasingly used in the business community.

Neurofeedback is deemed a ‘Level 1 Best Support’ according to the American Academy of Pediatrics analysis of Evidence-Based Child and Adolescent Interventions.

The FDA has already approved Neurofeedback training for mitigating stress. It can also help manage anxiety and alleviate symptoms of various conditions and challenges faced by students.

NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback is completely non-invasive, safe and natural.  Although NeurOptimal® is not a treatment for specific conditions, it is a tool that helps alleviate symptoms of many conditions by improving the overall functioning of the central nervous system.

“It is a simple and enjoyable program to run.”

Sandra Walton, M.Ed., Principal of ArtsCalibre Academy, expressed that the benefits of having a Neurofeedback program for students outweigh any missed time from class.

NeurOptimal® is an advanced neuro-technology that offers training to the brain, enabling it to function at its absolute best. It provides the brain with real-time feedback, micro-second by micro-second, allowing it to re-organize itself for optimal functioning. It’s much like holding up a mirror to your brain: the technology monitors your brain waves and then provides your central nervous system with this information, or “feedback”, about how it is behaving. When the software detects an inconsistency in the brain’s electrical activity, it informs the brain through an audible signal, encouraging the brain to re-organize and correct itself.  This is a great explainer video about how NeurOptimal works:
